Clothes to wear post-partum

I'm having a hard time figuring out what to wear with all the boobs-out time -- between pumping, attempting to breastfeed, and skin to skin. What have you guys liked that's convenient and looks semi respectable? Button down shirts? Tank tops you can easily pull down? Let me know brands you like too!

I just lived in Nike running shorts and soft t shirts with a good nursing bra for a late summer/ early fall birth. If I went out I’d throw on shorts and a v neck with a nursing tank under it or jeans and a v neck. I never was constantly topless like I have read on here. I did a breastfeeding/ pumping combo and still didn’t spend all my time with my boobs out. Really anything other than a maxi dress that doesn’t pull down from the top works well.

I'm not sure if you've given birth yet, but I've had three babies I've nursed exclusively and I also did not have boobs out all the time. When out and about, I liked a camisole (nursing or not, most of my nursing ones are Gilligan O'Malley from Target from 2016) under a button down shirt or a loose shirt I can pull up. I am a 36B so my boobs aren't very big.

Winter baby

I bought 3 sets of button front pajamas and lived in those any day we didn't leave the house. One set at night, one set during the day, one set in the wash.

For days we did leave the house, I liked leggings, tanks and long cardigans. I would just breastfeed by pulling down the tank and liked having the cardigan to cradle baby.

Oh and I hated nursing tanks. They didn't offer enough support alone and were uncomfortable with a bra. I just wore simple Gap tank tops one size up with a nursing bra.

I wore a nursing tank with a loose regular t-shirt over it. Pull the t-shirt up and unclip the nursing tank.

If you are at a point where you are still buying maternity clothes buy the tops that are dual purpose maternity/nursing. They work well in that immediate postpartum period when you still have your belly. Seraphine has good options. Once you’ve lost some weight buy nursing tops. I liked H&M. I wish someone would have given me this advice for my first pregnancy. All the nursing shirts I bought immediately postpartum were swimming on me 6 weeks later. My comment assumed you meant clothes to wear when wanted to look presentable and not pjs/yoga pants

I wore the same thing almost every day, especially once the weather turned a bit cooler:

1. One of these Madwell v-necks two sizes above my regular size. They are very soft and comfortable and easy to wash. They were easy to lift up and looked fine over all my nursing bras. I bought 7 of them in different colors. https://www.madewell.com/whisper-cotton-v-neck-tee-MB722.html

2. A pair of black high waisted leggings or joggers. I had (and have) a bunch, none were actual maternity brands. I like Old Navy's joggers, and leggings from Lulu and the Colorful Koala brand on Amazon. High waisted is key because it makes you feel more covered up when you are lifting your shirt all the time to nurse -- something that pulls up and over your belly, but is nice and soft since your baby will be right up next to it. I liked having a variety, some leggings some looser, depending on whether I was just at home or going out somewhere and wanting to feel/look a bit more pulled together.

3. A big draped cardigan. Can something roomy but not too bulky. I like this one but there's lots of options out there: https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=980125062&cid=1005761&pcid=1005761&vid=1&nav=meganav%3ATOPS%3ACATEGORIES%3ASweatshirts+%26+Wraps&cpos=31&cexp=1501&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D1005761&cvar=11273&ctype=Listing&cpid=res21082117980586738316615#pdp-page-content

I breastfed in public all the time but am a modest person by nature and liked having some layers for privacy.
