s/o random praise/brags for your kid

I like the thread about complaints but my kid is being an angel today so thought I'd spin off. My random praise:

My kid hates waking us up in the morning. She'll do it if she actually needs help (bathroom incident, sick, hungry for breakfast) but most mornings she just cracks the door to her room open and plays until she hears us getting up and then comes out to greet us, often fully dressed. It's the sweetest thing. She's 4 and can work on my last nerve plenty of the time, but in the morning she's just decided that we should get the sleep we need. Love that kid.

That’s so sweet!

Okay so I have so many brags about my kids but for DD, who is 13, I will go with her zest for life. When we are at the beach she gets right into digging in the sand, when she’s at home she either does crafts or creates her own language or bakes something, she does a sport and isn’t the best of the best but focuses completely on it when she is doing it, etc. She is constantly busy doing interesting things that challenge her and it’s so inspiring and it makes me happy.

DS, 9, is sooo sweet. Just one small example is that whenever DH and I hug each other, DS stops when he’s doing and comes over and wraps his arms around both of us. I adore it.

My DD is six and the other day we were at a park. I was chatting with her on the swings when she got off and started running. It turns out that there was a little girl across the way who was on some kind of spinning playground apparatus and she was crying because it wouldn't stop. My daughter ran over, stopped it from spinning, sat with the girl and consoled her.

She just said, "it's what wonder woman would have done."

My 5 year old was afraid to put her head in the water at the beginning of summer. Making bubbles was a non starter! She can now swim with head under and come up for a breath or two and continue. She keeps practicing herself and going slightly deeper than her head! (Supervised). I'm so proud she persevered and managed her fear and is now enjoying her new skill!!

DS, 7, loves competing in his swim meets. He talks for days about how exciting it is when the buzzer goes off and he “takes off like a rocket” and then “I give it my all” crossing the pool.

He comes in dead last by nearly a pool length every time! I love that he doesn’t care.

LOL.

As if kids in DCUM world don't get enough attention and praise already -- now we have a thread devoted to it!

My autistic and anxious teenager is starting a new high school in a couple weeks. She is doing so, so we'll, including being willing to talk about her anxiety and what she's looking forward to in the new school, has completed (by herself!) all summer homework, and has said that she's looking forward to a short family vacation before school starts. This has been our best end of summer yet.

I think kids are amazing and I love to hear about it. (Also we aren’t giving our kids attention by doing this, in fact we might be ignoring them right now)

So your brag is that your kids read DCUM?

My 5 year old son is being taught to speak Spanish by my Father Inlaw. He's able to form sentences now and understand several words. I was hoping he would have been able to attend a bilingual kindergarten class but none were available. Hopefully in a year or two he will be fluent.

Lovely thread.
My teens are at a stage where they enjoy one another during down time!!!! It’s huge growth from when they fought all the time.

DS8 and same thing here. He cherishes his “finisher” ribbons like they are gold. So sweet!
