Mop for hardwood

I’m in the market for:
-a basic mop (was using bona mop)
-a mop solution (was using bona, still have some)

What have you used and would recommend?

We abandoned the bona mop when we moved. Just didn’t fit into the truck and it was old/sprayer didn’t work anymore.

What’s the best mop, and solution, for me?
60% wood, including in the kitchen
[25% carpet]
15% tile

Looking for floors that feel clean clean, not a bunch of sticky spots that just got run over with a wet mop. I have 3 kids under 11, so we still have tiny spills that they don’t tell me about. They clean up big spills, but tiny milk spills etc don’t get cleaned.

*I may be interested in higher tech, but for a basic everyday mop.. suggestions?

I just use a big gator mop (w/a flat sponge head - I hated the rounded-off sponge head style from a different brand) from Home Depot. I keep bona floor cleaner in a random spray bottle and sometimes use the no-rinse minwax floor cleaner. We have hardwoods everywhere and I think this works pretty well.

PP here - forgot to add I sometimes just use hot water. If your floors are well-sealed (polyurethane not waxed of course) then water and/or cleaner meant for wood floors is fine

O’Cedar Spin Mop used with a ratio of one gallon of hot water to 1 tsp. of powdered Tide. Follow Go Clean Co. on IG and never use Bona again. It builds up on hardwoods.

Op here, I ended up buying a mop - the Libman Wonder mop.

I like your solution recommendations - think I’ll try a few of them and see which scent we like.

I like that it uses a traditional bucket - old school and feels so clean esp if I use warm water! Just like my mom did! Later on I might buy a cheap spray mop for quick cleans but then I’d rather just wipe with an all-purpose spray and some paper towels.

I might come back and ask for tips - like in a new home.. how would I know if the wood floors are waxed or not?

Another vote for this method. My floors have been sticky and gross even though I mop at least once a week. I tried this method this weekend and the difference is amazing. I think I drove DH crazy though because I kept talking about how clean the floors were.

Agree with the method, disagree on following her. She's a Qanon-er.

I checked out her channel. How do you know her stance? Some other account?
I won’t follow her if she into Q.

I couldn’t find Tide so used 3/4 teaspoon of Oxyclean in my crosswave to clean my wood floors in the main rooms. The tank water was a dark gray even though I had just cleaned the floors! Any powder detergent and hot water probably works, not just Tide. I have a big tub of Oxcylean so going to keep using it.

Absolutely love the GoCleanCo method with a spin mop and 1 tsp of powdered tide. I tried and returned the Crosswave but I do have a Rubbermaid spray mop with Bruce hardwood floor cleaner for quick touch ups. Nothing beats the spin mop and powdered Tide though.
