We need Biden to federally dismantle any forms of restrictive covenants and let the city build multifamily everywhere. We need to increase the section 8 voucher and ensure, by a flurry of lawsuits against those who push away section 8 tenants. We need it now. If you like section 8 lawsuits then you'll enjoy the ones that residents forced to accommodate section 8 voucher holders will happily file over increased violent crime that section 8 vouchers inevitably bring:

Landlords who want good tenants have every right to refuse to accommodate high-risk, high-crime tenants.

I'm not sure if the correct conclusion is that ANC's are racist - but they surely can be used to slow down neighborhood changes. But without the ANC, neighborhoods would have much less voice with DC agencies; and the agencies and mayor would just decide on all the issues about permits, licenses, etc, themselves.

This article completely ignores the fact that a huge %% of DC ANCs are likely majority black (if not exclusively black). Their problem is that they likely lack access to resources to advocate with DC agencies, not that they are obstructionist.
