APS middle school Student Support class/elective

Anonymous
Can someone enlighten me about the Student Support course in the MS program of studies? I had heard it was offered as an elective in APS middle schools, and my rising 6th grader (at Kenmore) wants to take it. I emailed the guidance counselor and was told they do not offer that as an elective. Would appreciate any insights. Thanks.

My child is not in middle school yet but my understanding is that that is only offered to students with IEPs (my child has one). Maybe 504s too? And I think it means that the kids placed in that class can't take a different elective (which my kid would want to do).

Guidance counselor is correct--this class is only offered to students with IEPs, and students lose an elective to be in it.
