Anyone recommend the best Toyota dealer in the area? Willing to drive further out for a better deal. Looking for either a RAV4 or Highlander. Also willing to buy year or two old, but used prices are nearly equal to new prices.

We like Fitzgerald. After several purchases from them, always feel like they’ve treated us fairly.
In normal times I’d say you could negotiate a lower price elsewhere, if you’re good at negotiating. In today’s market I’m not so sure. |
I'd buy as close to home as I could get. I doubt you're getting what would normally be a good deal, so the free oil change for life or whatever other add on the local dealer attaches is probably worth it

Any dealer will service irrespective of where you bought it, servicing is very profitable.
It's a tough market. We got a good deal by emailing 20 dealers saying: Are you ready to sell me a Sienna XLE for $38,000 out the door pricing? If so, call me at 202-xxx-xxxx and we'll be right over. We promise we won't shop your offer around. If not, we will write again in a few days with a higher offer." Then raised our offer $300 per email. Someone agreed to our price on our second email, and we got a really good deal. Make sure you ask for "out the door pricing" so that the deals are comparable. This strategy would be harder for used vehicles because you can't compare them as easily. Some dealers won't want to play ball but if you sound like you are really willing to com |
None of the dealers are good so go for wherever you get the cheapest deals. Dealers are not honest to anyone.
I always ask for OTD price regardless of what state I am buying it from. Also, know the value of your trade-in and don't let them lowball you.
Email all the dealers in the area with what you want, ask for their best price, then negotiate with the few that give you the best price.
We just bought a toyota and dealers were not negotiating over email. We had an awful experience at Darcars Toyota in Silver Spring, where we'd bought our previous Toyota. We ended up buying at Jim Coleman Toyota and were happy with the deal we got.
Dealers are not giving 'good' prices now...no matter what you think. Deal with it
Look to see who has inventory for the model you want
Toyata Dealership in Springfield literally has no cars on the lot. I doubt they are negotiating "best deal" right now on new or used cars
