We are headed to Bar Harbor, Maine for 1 week. How cold does it there in August? I planned on packing a fleece jacket for everyone- is that sufficient or do I need warmer jackets? |
Look at the weather for this week. It will range from the 50s in the middle of the night to 70s during the day. |
You should also pack a waterproof light rain jacket that you can toss on top of a sweatshirt if needed, or wear alone. We went last August and never needed anything warmer than a sweatshirt. |
Range of clothes depending on activities- exercise clothes for hiking, raincoats, fleece (!) if you do nighttime activities (stars on the beach) etc. last week it was hot. |
If you're hiking a lot, pack some quick dry layers that are warm and light. If you start hiking in the morning, it will be pretty cold but you'll warm up fast on the mountain.
If you're planning to do sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, bring legit layers, it gets cold up there. Depending on your circulation, gloves would probably be a good idea for this specific activity. |
Just got back from Maine and it was so hot we never used the jeans or fleeces we always pack, lol. Regardless, a fleece or sweatshirt is always good and rain gear if you'll be outside. Also bug spray as the mosquitoes were awful this year. |
Agree with everything above. If you plan to do whale watching or something else out in the ocean, maybe add another layer. |
Yup. Agree with everyone above. Was there in early July. Wore shorts and t shirts during the day while hiking and grabbed a hoodie when we were out a night. Some type of rain gear highly suggested |
Thank you everyone! Very helpful. I can’t wait to see Maine! |
