At 12:40 am I started hearing water dripping in my bedroom. I found a leaky roof in the attic! Time to call the roofer again. Last time it took weeks for an appointment and another few more weeks for a fix.

Water gushed into our basement through a window that has never leaked before. Luckily no damage. Little bit of a mess though and now need to get that window fixed.

I slept through it, which is a little alarming.

I was awoken a very loud flash flood warning on my phone. I don't remember getting them before, must be something new the service providers are doing. Same loud blaring buzz that I recall from television in the past.

Ugh great. We left town yesterday morning to visit family. I hope my house is okay. Anything I should worry about in CCDC? Power failures etc.?

Localized alerts have been around for a while now. You've just forgotten.

If there are window Wells at any of your basement windows make sure they are cleaned out filled with about three quarters of crushed stone gravel. Also get your gutters and downspouts cleaned and make any necessary repairs. Ensure the downspouts are directed away from the house

Check the Pepco outage map. It’s a rough guide to how badly an area was hit by storms, as well as showing if power is out in your immediate neighborhood.

There was massive flooding in Alexandria. Worst I’ve ever seen in the 20 years I’ve lived there.
