APS Town Hall: some answers, much still unknown

Testing once a week for all students!Yay! (More for athletes)
No real social distancing
Outdoor lunch by school 🤷🏽‍♀️
Mandatory masking. Masks will be provided for those who need them.
Air cleaners will stay

Those who test positive/close contacts will be provided asynchronous work while in quarantine. No concurrent. If the whole class has to be quarantined, get out your iPads cuz you’re back in virtual learning! I forgot how long you have to quarantine.

What else?

What's the unknown you are referencing? I thought it was pretty complete.

Not OP, but I’m still confused about the quarantine procedures. Can you go go back in if you test negative during your quarantine period?

I also wonder if teachers will continue to teach from Canvas with students at their desks on devices?

Are vaccinated students tested weekly?

Agreed. You had to listen closely, though. Lots of details.

Regarding testing once a week, that’s for both vaccinated and non vaccinated students?

They were explicit when they said all students, including the virtual ones, who can test at Kenmore. They will do the test in the school.

The kicker is that parents have to opt into it. Expect some to just say no.

Yes, it is for students who opt in.

True. I bet some parents don't ever want to know if their kid ever becomes positive asymptomatically. It will interrupt their workday for eight long days.

How do we opt in? That was my unknown. This is huge news but they talked about it as if it was basic knowledge.

This exact sentiment was expressed in the YHS parent sports meeting. Parent did not want to opt in to the sports testing because if his kid tested positive, kid would have to miss school. Unbelievable!

They didn't go into details. They will probably be a form to fill out on ParentVue or paper that comes home from the school.

Won’t there be a lot of false positives? The cdc doesn’t recommend random testing like this.

Actually...

Screening is one of the many mitigation strategies the CDC recommends.
