I became an Aldi convert over many years, and now like their naan, some frozen treats, etc, and like paying less for milk/creamer/etc, too.
Should I try Lidl? It's a little farther away. What do you like there? How is it different from Aldi? |
Surely you can drive a little further one time and check it out yourself.
I like marinated chicken and frozen seafood. Store brand ice cream/gelato is good. Bring your own shopping bags. |
Of course I can - I just want to know good stuff to look for there! Is the marinated chicken in the prepared food section? |
The baked goods are better IME. They also have more dairy-free ice cream if that is important to you (it is to me) I do not like their layout though. |
They have a bakery on the premises that makes fresh baked bread that is delicious! They have more name brand products than Aldi. Be careful at both Aldi and Lidl-- they like to load their products with sugar. Definitely read the ingredients before buying anything their. When you least expect it, their products have lots of sugar. |
Lidl had better authentic items from Germany. |
+1 |
I live in Germany and only shop at Lidl if there is no other option. The items might be ‘authentic’ from Germany, but they aren’t the best quality. |
Where is there a Lidl? Have never seen one. |
Takoma Park and Glenmont in Maryland |
American Lidl is better than German Lidl. |
We’re happy to get any kind of authentic German food here. Lidl’s food for German week is actually not bad at all. They even had Dampfnudeln. |
In which location did you find the Dampfnudeln? I’m so excited, I’m going to surprise my kids. |
Crystal City. Who knew? |
They only have them during Alpine week (should be in September) |
