Topical pain with pressure of doppler during labor

Anonymous
I have a question that wasn’t answered during/after my birth.

During my labor, which went very quickly, (3hrs total, 2nd baby) I had very
strong abdominal pain when they would try to listen to the baby’s heart. Not contraction pain (had that too I assure you) but like holding the doppler up to my abdomen was pressing on a painful bruise.

Postpartum I was still sore to the touch on my lower abdomen for a couple
of weeks. (Gone now)

When I asked at my PP appointment I didn’t get the sense they had heard this concern much and it was mostly brushed off as a “these things happen” answer.

Anyone else experience this? Have insight on it? My concern is if it were a sign of a potential future problem like uterine rupture risk if I have a 3rd baby etc…

I have had pain at specific spots on my stomach when having ultrasounds. I’m in my second pregnancy and don’t recall having it with my first. A high risk doctor happened to be doing the ultrasound and I forget what the medical term was, but she essentially described it as a local, small contracted area and said it wasn’t concern. She even showed me how it presented on the ultrasound, and sure enough it was visible. I don’t know if yours was the same issue.

Interesting! Thanks.

This happened to me with my first and not again with my second and third. Each labor had some quirky thing like this.

PP here. I was just googling it and maybe it was a focal myometrial contraction. Mine also felt like the ultrasound wand was pushing on a painful bruise. Had them in two locations at two different ultrasounds.

Wow thanks. It does align with why their response was along the “these things happen” and having just that much more information about what it was is reassuring. Thank you. This sounds likely.
