We know from the communications from central office that there are a variety of recommendations but the only mandate is masks. It seems like individual decisions will be at the school level this year. I worry that we won’t learn of our school’s plans until it is too close to the beginning of the school year to make alternative plans. I also am assuming that no school is allowed to offer virtual this year, either for parents who prefer it or for quarantining students. But if anyone has heard otherwise that would be good to know.
(It sounds like some charters like basis snd Latin have started communicating their plans but dcps has not). |
| I would assume you’ll hear very close to the start of school. Schools had plans that had to be scrapped due to Delta. It’s frustrating. |

Our school sent an email yesterday that had some information, but not much. Masks, enhanced cleaned, HVAC and air quality sensors, daily health assessments (I assume this is the questionnaire we’ve been filling out daily at camp this summer), PPE available at the school, PK and K eat in classrooms, everyone else in the cafeteria, kids spaced out as far as possible in classrooms.
It also said information about asymptomatic testing would come out later this summer and it provided the link to the DCPS virtual option page and reinforced that the virtual option would not be taught by teachers from our school. Why it didn’t do was address drop off and pick up procedures, what will happen if there’s a case in a classroom, whether kids need to mask at recess, if visitors/parents can come into the building, etc. |
