Following travel within the US, students must get a PCR test 3-5 days after returning. What isn't clear is whether they also need to stay home for those days. Does anyone know for sure?
(It's clear that following international travel they do need to also stay home while awaiting test result.) |
| Duh, yes. |
|
Yes for DC.
Do MD and VA have similar rules? |
| Yes you stay home as you await results. In case they are positive. |
| Don’t think you need a PCR. |
Yes, you do. |
| It wouldn't make sense to not isolate before getting a negative PCR test result, don't you think, OP? |
our DCPS requires you to send them the results for the negative test before returning. It remains unclear how any missed days will be counted. |
Totally agree but the wording implies otherwise because it's different than for international travel.: Domestic Travel 1. May not attend school for ten days after returning OR 2. Produce a negative COVID-19 viral test administered 3-5 days after returning. This means if you return on a Monday, you must wait 3-5 days after returning before getting your child tested. International Travel 1. May not attend school for ten days after returning OR 2. May not attend school for seven days after returning, get tested 3-5 after returning AND receive a negative COVID 19 viral test. Even if the test is negative, the child must not attend school for seven days. The analogous requirement of the bolded part is missing under Domestic Travel. |
I do love unclear and mangled messaging. This also doesn't say PCR. Is that somewhere else? |
Assuming the child has no symptoms or known exposure, they don’t have to isolate. |
| Can so one post the link? All I find is something from May 2021. |
there is no PCR requirement. I also don’t think there’s any requirement to send the test results. Most people will ignore this rule. |
| Can you do a rapid test on day 3 for domestic travel? |
We intend to. |
