I hate beach volleyball

Is there any reason other than tall skinny blonde girls in bikinis who love to hug each other so tight that Alix/April are CONSTANTLY on TV? NBC won't show anything in entirety except these boring beach volleyball games. Gymnastics is so popular, but they only showed medalists plus one other for suspense in prime time, they only show bits and pieces of track and field, yet they show every single stupid beach volleyball game in its entirety, and they are SO boring. What the actual F? Are we only pandering to horny middle-aged men with the olympics now? I don't remember this massive beach volleyball coverage in past years.

Also what's up with calling every other player by their last name but the Americans are "Alix/April"?

I'm a cis-hetero woman, and I 100% have enjoyed watching beach volleyball over the greco-roman wrestling that the Olympics Channel seems to be broadcasting 24/7.

I hate how they have to high 5 each other every.single.time.the play is over. It just draws out the game and makes it more painful to watch.

While I enjoyed watching the matches, I agree with OP that they took up a disproportionate amount of prime time coverage. Perhaps for the exact reason OP suggests.

And yet, TV viewing numbers are the lowest ever.

The Olympic coverage is horrid this year, but as a former volleyball player, I love watching. I too hate the skimpy bikinis, but I am not the one playing. I cannot stand track and field, all that standing around. And there was a previous poster who liked watching dressage (and I cannot for the life of me figure out why).

I’m with you OP. There are sooo many interesting sports but every summer Olympics beach volleyball gets a primetime coverage and time slot. I don’t even bother turning it on during the first hour because it’s nothing but beach volleyball. I just learned the US is still vying for a medal in regular volleyball, I haven’t seen a single clip over the last 2 weeks.
