So disappointed

Today was my retrieval and we only retrieved 2 eggs. I had 4 follicles but only 2 eggs. This cycle took off like a rocket. I did the micro flare protocol, the same as the last time, but only stimmed for 4 days and the last day they cut my dose in half. I find out tomorrow if we have embryos. I'm just getting so discouraged. I'm 41 so time is running out. If we don't end up pg from this cycle I'm heading up to Dr. Davis in NYC.

I had the same problem with the microdose lupron protocol at age 41. I had 17mm follicles after 3 days of stims and my cycle was converted to an IUI. Have you tried any other protocols? I had a much different experience with Antagonist - both with bcps and estrogen priming.

I can totally relate to your discouragement. This whole process is so frustrating!! I am now 42 and just finished another EPP cycle. I am in the 2ww and feel that this one didn't work. I am thinking of going to Dr. Davis if this cycle doesn't work, but don't know how much more money, time and energy I can spend on trying with my own eggs.

Hoping you are pleasantly surprised with two nice embryos tomorrow!

I saw Dr Davis a few months ago -- I think you're both smart to be considering him. He is truly an order of magnitude better than anyone in the DC area. I just wouldn't wait too long to see him, going up to NYC isn't easy and I wouldn't wait until you are already burned out from multiple failures. I did 3 cycles locally and then saw Davis. I got my first BFP with him, after a cycle that went much, much better than previous attempts.

Also, if you think you might go see Davis, I'd order a copy of your records now. You can't make an appointment with Davis until Cornell has your records and it can take a couple weeks to get them. Once you make the appt, the wait is about 6 weeks before you can see him. Good luck!!!!!!!

OP here. I just found out that we have two embryos. We transfer on Wednesday.

PP thanks for the info on Dr. Davis. I actually had called up there and talked to his assistant and she gave me all the info. I'm actually ok with a 6 week wait. I need a break from the cycling. I did 2 back to back cycles. I am hopeful that I won't need an appointment up there, but I am going to prepare for it anyway.

Best of luck to you! Fingers and toes crossed for you....please keep us posted.

By the way, I have two friends who got just one egg/embroy and both had successful pregnancies.

OP here. Today we transferred two grade 1, 8-cell, "picture perfect" (doc's words) embryos. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wow, that's great! So even though you only got 2, once it came to putting them back in, it looked like a picture perfect cycle! Wishing you much luck.
