How to recognize teacher for achieving National Board certification?

Anonymous
My DS's teacher has just been certified by the National Board of Teaching Standards. I understand it's quite an achievement and I'm thinking it would be nice to do something in recognition of that. Anyone have any ideas? Is a note sufficient, should I bring cake in for the class to celebrate, should I contact the principal about doing something with her class? She's a fantastic teacher and we're very grateful DS is in her classroom. Suggestions?

That is very sweet! No one did anything for me when I achieved my certification. I would contact the principal and see if you could send some celebratory treats and maybe a bouquet of flowers or balloons to her class some day.

Great idea, and very thoughtful.

As a teacher, I think it's so great that you want to recognize this. It is no easy feat. I think contact the principal. If that doesn't work, maybe some sort of gift certificate so the teacher can go out an celebrate.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. I've contacted the principal to see if anything will be donen at the school that I can contribute to. If not, I'll write a note with a gift card.

Definitely make a big deal of it! Attaining NBPTS is a lot of work and is something to celebrate! DH threw me a big party when I got mine, even though most of our friends didn't have any idea what it meant.
