Epidural & VBAC??

| Just wondering if anyone has had a VBAC and an epidural? I am yet to talk to my OB about what he thinks but I am currently not too confident about giving birth without any pain medication and wanted to hear from those who had a VBAC with pain relief. Thanks. |

| I have the 2004 ACOG VBAC Guidelines in my hand (dated July 2004-- their most recent VBAC Guidelines), and it specifically states that "Success rates for VBAC are similar in women who do and do not receive epidural analgesia, as well as in those women who recieve other types of pain relief. Epidural analgesia rarely masks the signs and symptons of uterine rupture." So, an epidural for a VBAC is as safe as no epidural, according to ACOG (the American College Obst. & Gyn.) |
