Coaches and Players Lodging in the Same Beach House ...

... during a week long soccer camp. Does anyone find it strange or creepy that someone would organize a team event like this? IMO, I don't feel it's appropriate to have male coaches and teen girls staying together in the same unit, regardless if there are a few parent chaperones.

Yes that is whacked

Wow that’s creepy as hell. What club did this? Loudoun?

I don't want to call-out the team here, but they are affiliated with a club in Loudoun. I only know this b/c my daughter is friends with some of the players on that team and they had been DMing each other on instagram. Even my daughter thought is weird. I know one of the players on that team is going through family issues (a big understatement) and my concern is grooming.

Oh hell no.

Why would any parent allow that?

Why wouldn’t you call out the coach and team if this is true?

Interesting that people will call out specific players on this board but not very questionable adult behavior.

Adults need to be called out for $hit like this. Not sure exactly why choose to protect this kind of behavior, you obviously didn't think it was right otherwise you wouldn't have posted it here.

The parents are idiots to do this.

H#ll no. My dh or myself would have to go and get a hotel.

Hey more team spirit!!

Happens all the time in life and major motion pictures. Haven't you seen Bend It Like Beckham?

It’s not normal behavior. I think anyone that knows of the club and team needs to speak up about these concerns to the club director.

I don't have a problem with the concept itself, since such situations happen frequently in sports and arts (thinking of music competitions and events I've heard about or experienced). The problem is when the manager or one of the adults present is an abuser, sexual or financial or otherwise.

Two issues:
1. Potential for sexual abuse: the parent chaperone needs to check for cameras and stay vigilant.
2. Potential for grift: the families need to compare with local hotels and AirBnBs to see if the fees are reasonable for the accommodations.

I think my answer depends on the exact situation. A huge house with coaches in one room, girls in 3 or 4 other rooms, and additional parent chaperones in another room? I can see how that would be a ton of fun, and potentially really help with finances compared to the required number of hotel rooms.
Just the coach sleeping on the couch and girls with no other adults? Nope, not ok.
