Anyone Turning Down Beauvoir for K?

We are really hoping to get our son into Beauvoir for K and have been waitlisted. Is anyone planning on declining?

It doesn't work that way. Don't get your hopes up--or down--based on any responses you might get to this post.

Do you know how many Beauvoir admits would need to decline before they go to the waitlist? They don't need to go to the waitlist just when 1 family declines--they admit more than they expect will actually accept, you know? And even if you get no responses of anyone declining, DCUM is just a tiny slice of the DC independent school world.

Be hopeful. From personal experience though, I know how deflating this board can be when you're on the waitlist and looking for inspiration. I guess I was just trying to say, in a nice way, try not to obsess over it, and don't look to this Board for hope, because in the end it is probably just going to stress you out. I know that was true in my case.

I know someone who got a call from Beauvoir last August about the wait list. You never know what might happen.

I realize these are long shots and high hopes. But for the people turning down spots: could you be more specific about your child. For example let us know if the child is AA or diversity? Because in the event they go to the wait list, they would fill the spot with a child who has a similar profile to the spot which is open.

If anyone is willing to state why they turned down the spot, that may be helpful. We're trying to decide between Beauvoir and another school and are finding the decision very difficult!

I honestly don't think anyone will reveal this on this site. People from the school read this forum, and I'm sure people who are rejecting Beauvoir don't want to burn their bridges. You'll just have to wait and see.

No, but I'm being realistic. The process is very competitive, heads of schools are literally married to other heads of schools, it's just not a situation where you want to announce: "I am an AA family accepted for K and we're turning it down". For what reason? To give the OP some lead time on a potential jump off the wait list?

Current AA Beauvoir Parent here so sorry to hear that : ( Beauvoir is a great school and my AA child is really enjoying the experience. Good Luck with your decision.
