Interesting list and great opportunities!

May I ask how Oregon landed on your kid’s list? I’ve heard some kids talking about it and wondering if it’s trending up or how kids from my area (MoCo) are hearing about it.

NP here, my kid was also accepted at Oregon last night, 10k/yr merit and I believe she saw it on Tik Tok (sigh). BTW they have a really odd calendar if anybody hasn't looked at it yet.

Congrats! U of Oregon is really hard to get into.

Oregon seems great but doesn’t it have an 88% acceptance rate?

DD in at Christopher Newport.

So far, DD has been accepted at:

GMU
Radford (Honors)
Longwood
ODU
UMW
CNU

Still waiting on JMU, but it's not high on her list.

Wants to study budiness/finance. GMU or JMU are probably the best of the lot, but she's willing to consider the others.

Michigan State 10k/yr
Colorado State - has separate scholarship app to fill out
Univ Dayton 26k/yr, tuition fixed for four years

Applied to all of these in September
FCPS 3.72, 1300 SAT

I LOVE BALL STATE!! My dad used to teach there and we lived in Muncie for 4 years. Great and fun school. The whole city revolves around the college.

DD added an acceptance from St. Olaf today with $37k. Woo hoo! Choices. Happy holidays, all.

Total price is....??

COA this year is $77k, so $40k-ish? Maybe $42k with a tuition increase?

And that’s about $4k more than our best in-state options.

But:
1) the $77k doesn’t include flights, which really add up, especially for family going to help set up freshman year and fir graduation.
2) It’s St. Olaf, not UVA.

Not PP but not everyone wants UVA. Not everyone wants a large school.

Would you mind sharing stats? I have a junior who's very interested in BU. Big congrats to your DD!

Seeing this way late, but 1490 SAT. I find her GPA confusing because she transferred to a private arts high school junior year and they don’t weight/just include her grades there in their GPA calculation. But a B+ or two a year, otherwise As. As noted she is an arts high school and applying visual arts so her portfolio was presumably important too.

Could you please share ECs and stats?

National-level awards in two fields related to major(s). 1590 SAT, 4.0uw GPA, top 10% of graduating class.

Rejected from U Chicago. Same stats (ok, only 1480) but quite modest extracurriculars, so we weren't surprised by the rejection, but they would really have liked Chicago so it was worth applying.
