Has anyone been to Charlottesville this summer? Looking for a short getaway, but we have been covid cautious.
Also, any good suggestions where to stay please? |

I live here (lived in DMV for many years before moving here)
Budget for lodging? Do you want a hotel or an inn type environment? Wineries and breweries are back to normal Fridays after 5 (free concert series on the pedestrian mall) is back to normal Live music is happening at concert halls and at wineries/breweries |

Thank you for the reply and help!! How do you feel the town is dealing with covid? We are pretty covid careful, but have started eating in restaurants without a mask in areas with higher vaccination rates.
Great to hear wineries and breweries are back to normal. Lodging that is walking distance to pedestrian mall/breweries would be great (extra bonus if pool!). Further out, we looked at Boar's Head as well. However, recent reviews weren't super great. |

Charlottesville and Albemarle residents have done a great job getting vaccinated. Restaurant tables are still spread out for the most part.
Now, the surrounding towns and counties haven't been as great so the area has a moderate level of spread per the CDC. This article is from earlier in July https://www.cvilletomorrow.org/articles/albemarle-county-has-the-highest-covid-19-vaccination-rate-in-the-state-why/ |
| The Omni is on the downtown mall and has a small outdoor pool. You can walk to Three Notchd brewery, Champion Brewery, South Street Brewery, and Random Row brewery. Plenty of restaurants at all price levels and types of cuisine. Across the street from the Omni is a newer Residence Inn, and just a little further down that block is a new Quirk Hotel. |
| One last thing, students will start moving in over the next few weeks, so it will get busier again. First years move in August 18th/19th so avoid those dates. |
