APS ES Distance Learning Question

Anonymous
We selected distance learning for our ES kids this fall. Has anyone received any information about elementary school distance learning this fall? I'm wondering about basic things like when the school day will start and end.

I’d assume it will align with one of the standard start times, 8am, 8:20, 9.

FYI- APS townhall on Aug 11.

Even though kids (especially ES age) are very low risk? Are you planning to keep them home forever? Hate to break it to you, but this isn’t going away.

OP here. My kids are high risk due to some health conditions they have.

You don't have to justify.

Because APS is using ~$10.5 million on virtual learning for fewer than 900 students. What a waste.

It sounds like a lot until you do the math and see that's half what we normally spend per capita on students. I have a lot of complaints about APS, but this isn't one of them.

Not true. Completely inaccurate comparison. The virtual school is not separate from all other spending aps does (superintendents, central office, other spending that benefits all aps students in virtual or physical). Long-term - virtual school would save aps money; short term, it’s not.
