Hi,
Prospective nanny thinks she can commute from Frederick to Rockville, to start her day at 9am. Is this even realistic? Wouldn't she be exhausted upon arrival? |
It's not so bad after 8:30, right? |
no, this is not realistic. It could easily take her 75+ minutes in the morning. Going home, I would imagine even longer. This could be theoretically possible, imho, if she was working from, say, 11 am to 7 pm or 8pm. Or doing this commute once or twice a week. but daily? no.
Our nanny commutes from Germantown to North Bethesda. She has come at different times over the years. The commute takes her a LONG time (I think usually 1 hour plus) and is unpredictable because there are so often huge tieups. |
Bad idea. You will regret it.
Do you have any other candidates to interview? |
1 hr from Germantown? Is it possible to avoid highways at all during rush hour? |
Plenty of people commute from Frederick to Rockville. |
She will spend a good 2-4 hours a day on the road, especially as people return to the office in larger numbers. It depends on how desperate she is for the job but it is a grueling daily commute. Is your home near the Marc train? |
She will also find out that she’s spending a good chunk of money on gas. |
