| I put way too much bacitracin on my scalp last night (I have some painful spots that aren’t healing quickly). I took a shower this morning and used Neutrogena clarifying shampoo, and then head and shoulders 2 in 1. I would’ve thought the Neutrogena cleaned it all out, but as my hair dried I realized it was as if I barely got any of the bacitracin out. My hairs still a greaseball and I just googled and the first result said it’s “extremely” hard to get out… anyone have tips and suggestions?! Or am I going to have bacitracin hair for days |
| Can anyone help my head is getting itchy |
| You might have a staph infection that requires oral antibiotic. Try to see a Derm or if you cannot get an appointment your pcp |
| Shampoo with Dawn. Seriously, it will b |
Dawn will get the grease out but you will need to follow up with serious deep conditioning after or your hair will end up like straw. |
| What about rinsing with white vinegar? |
| don't use Dawn if your scalp is already sore!! |
What??? Why? |
| What are these painful spots on your head? Do you have open sores? Because that seems to be the more pressing concern. |
NP and is the bacitracin a prescription med? Asking because I’ve had a prescription med regimen from my derm for ongoing possible allergic reaction on my scalp with itchy then scabbed spots on my scalp. I used a prescription shampoo and applied pledgets (not oily - more like a Clearisil pad) to the spots on my hairline. Easy cure! Just wondering if this bacitracin application is self directed? |
| I have had to get Vaseline put of hair before - what worked was cornstarch. Massage that in to soak up the oil and then shampoo it out. |
| Definitely see a dermatologist. I have sebhorratic dermatitis which is basically really bad dandruff and I can end up with spots that are raw and oozing. It starts with just a little flaking then gets patchy and itchy then becomes irritated to the point of scabs in some areas. When I brush my hair ii irritates them so they ooze and I end up with more scabs that I invariably pick off or come of when I brush again. Vicious cycle. They gave me a RX shampoo that after just one washing made a huge difference!! |
My head was itchy from the bacitracin! |
It was self directed! Yea I’m not sure what these sores are they kind of just appeared on my scalp. They’re red but also look like scabs in yellow ish way? They’re flat to my head like it’s just the skin. But they’re kind of painful. Hard to explain it’s also around a mole that I’ve picked at a lot so I’m not sure if it’s just infected now |

It sounds to me like you should see a dermatologist about the sores.
As far as removing the bacitracin, which is probably in a Vaseline base, the dawn, vinegar, and cornstarch solutions sound reasonable to me. If you have broken skin on your scalp, the cornstarch sounds like the mildest of these. |
