Infertility Support and Discussion

The drama continues. I miscarried at week 5 on3/11. Bleeding was very light, but lasted 10 days. Along the way, my beta numbers intially came down but didn't go to zero. So I had them retested on Wednesday and they seem to be on the rise again.
I'm going in for a sonogram tomorrow, but in the meantime, I'm kind of freaking out. The issue is I'm going to be out of town all next week and can't do a D&C then if that's what needed. I guess this post is one part vent, one part asking for insight about what could be going on in there so I can calm down a bit. Thanks! |
| You need to be closely monitored by an OB or RE, you may have an ectopic. |
| Another possibility is a molar or partial molar pregnancy. If that is the case you will need a d&c and weekly blood draws until your levels go down. In any event, monitoring is important. I'm sorry, I've been there and it sucks to deal with this stuff after a m/c. I hope it turns out to be no big deal. |

Thanks, you all. And kudos to 18:48. It's an ectopic pregnancy.
The radiologist found it via the internal sonogram, and the situation seems to be as good as an ectopic can be, I think. Small in size, no heartbeat (so not likely to grow), no signs of rupture or damage. I just got a shot of methotrexate and will follow up with two more blood tests next week to make sure the betas come down. Turns out you can blood tests in other cities while traveling. Yay for LabCorps. Anyway, just wanted to close the loop in case someone else finds herself in a similar situation (up/down/up beta results). |
| Best of luck to you OP! I had an ectopic back in 2003, lost a tube and then went on to carry twins. Sounds like your ectopic will resolve with methotrexate alone. My OB went on vacation and missed the rising betas, luckily already had an appt. scheduled with an RE who caught the ectopic -- I was already 8 weeks past my LMP. |
Thanks! And congrats on your twins!!
