I ended up deciding to have my first appt with SGF, which it's tomorrow after almost 2.5 months waiting. How long from your first RE consultation was your first IUI? I'm almost at the end of my cycle, I would probably get my period this weekend, would I be able to start testing right away? and get the CD3 tests next week? what has been your experience? |
| We didn't quite get there (got pregnant the old fashioned way in the middle of testing!) but my impression was a total of about 3 months. |
| First RE was Sept. 11, first IUI was scheduled for Nov. 27 but through no fault of the clinic we bailed on that round. My second completed IUI was Feb. 28 and was successful. This was at Columbia. |
Adding on that I had started a thread to share all the testing and stuff we had to do because I couldn’t find a post that explained everything. I’ll try and search for it and post it. |
| I was at Dominion and it was >5 years ago, but I recall that it was 2 or 3 months (maybe 2 cycles). There was all of the testing, HSG, and then one of their steps was a "practice" IUI so that the Dr. could see if there were any physical issues with doing the IUI. It was frustrating because I wanted to get started after my first cycle, but that was the process. |
Thanks! |
That makes sense, thanks 1 |
| At SGF in 2019: First appointment was mid-April, first IUI was end of May. Third at end of July was successful. |
| If you just want an IUI just go to your normal OB or find one who does them. The point of seeing an RE is to diagnose and treat - sometimes that will still mean IUI or IVF, but often times not. |
Makes sense. This is enlightening. My OB doesn't even do testing or IUI. So i thought i could only do IUI with a RE. Well, let's do the testing and see what happens . |
If you want an IUI because you haven’t been able to get pregnant, an RE is worth seeing because they look at more than an OB would. Also please make sure if you have a male partner that you have a semen analysis done. We would have saved months of time if we started there! |
| I had a cycle of testing in July I believe, and started clomid + iuis that august. |
Most OB’s don’t do testing outside of the normal blood panel. But if they do IUI’s they’ll typically do it whenever you want. Costs $200 through my OB, significantly less than my RE (though my RE’s charge is all-inclusive). |
| hmm I went in in early June and started clomid/iui cycle that day at CFA. I was a previous patient from egg freezing 4 years earlier but they didn't make me wait at all- started medicine that day (I have pcos and the ultrasound and bloodwork that day confirmed that i wasn't ovulating and hadn't had my period in a couple months) |
| With full testing and diagnostics you can expect about three months. Possibly longer if you need things like HSG and hysteroscopy. |
