MD Drivers license with a seat belt restriction?

| My 21 year old son just renewed his drivers license. The temp paper receipt lists Restriction J All occupants must wear seat belts. While I would hope this would be the case anyways I can not find anything to explain why he would have it listed. It is not the state law for everyone. He has been driving for about 3 years and is past the probationary period. Any one know before we deal with the MVA? Thanks. |

| Restriction J is for individually determined restrictions, like ignition interlocks. Does your son’s driving record include a seat belt violation? In MD, the occupant restraint law is basically universal anyway but the driver isn’t responsible for the proper restraint use of adult (16+) occupants without this restriction. |
