just 5 weeks away from the start of the SY and COVID is still here..
Who would've of thought that COVID would still be here this time last year?
IMO ALL Kids and teachers should be wearing masks for at least the first months, let's pray and hope there no issues with COVID at schools this year.

They will be wearing masks because 3 ft won’t be possible.

What I don’t get, are people who ever thought that covid was ever going to go away. Last year I think most practical people knew that it was here to stay, and we’ll just have to get used to it as well as modify according to our own health predicaments.

Maybe if everybody vaccinated, but instead vaccine centers are empty and hospitals are full.

Hopefully, this will help WP: Growing number of Republicans urge vaccinations amid delta surge. Took them long enough.

Agreed. The DMV totally wasted last year with weird magical thinking about how to best react. Stupid.

Our local hospitals are not full.

We move forward. Enough nonsense. Half a million shots are still going into arms each day, so we keep crawling toward the goal. My under 12 year olds will get vaccinated as soon as they are able to do so.

Everyone?

There will be issues with COVID at schools this year, OP. Let's hope no one dies unnecessarily, but even best case scenario, there will be issues.

Many of us knew it would still be here because it will take a combination of vaccines and behavior. We don't have vaccines for kids and everyone is living life as normal and it continues to spread.

Fortunately, people are finally coming around to the understanding that this is close to as good as it gets. Shutdowns are an ineffective solution (and damaging), the virus is here to stay, and everybody simply needs to get on with it.

Duran should walk back his position to end outdoor lunch. Principals should be encouraged to schedule lunch outside, to the extent practicable. In bad weather, kids can eat inside. But on all other days, kid should absolutely eat outside. It's a low cost, low effort way to drastically decrease transmission risk.

Do you really think it is every going to be gone? It’s going to circulate yearly, like the flu. Thousands die from the flu every year. I’m very hopeful about where we are now vs. a year ago.

Too bad they didn't allocate some of the ARP funds for tents. Virtual school gotta virtual school.
