I am sure all school superintendents have such a list. If you run a school system that depends on funding and someone who influences that funding asks for a favor, what do you do? Just like Rhee and Fenty. Can Rhee really tell Fenty that his kids need to enter the OOB lottery for Lafayette? Rhee is probably in a worse situation than Duncan was in because she not only has to deal with city officials, but all the poobah's in the Federal government that can include everything from key committee aids to officials in the Dept. of Education. Do you think she is going to blow someone off and risk losing an education grant of some sort? That's just the unfortunate reality.

I don't get it. Getting someone's kid into a Chicago public school is doing them a favor? Are you sure the list isn't people he hates?

Ha! It's disheartening to me though. He's in charge of the biggest new education initiative since NCLB, but has some weird idiosyncracies: anti-voucher but willing to give 'school choice' to people on a list? ugh
