| We have Pottery Barn backpack since DD was 3 years old. It could use a good wash but it's still in great shape. Should I buy a new backpack for her kindergarten or just use this old one? I know, first world problem. |

just wash it - I know some people make a big deal about back to school stuff.
We have found that by not making a deal - it sets the expectations that items have a life beyond 1 school year. Not to be cheap - but to reflect on the functionality of items and taking care of stuff. |
| If it fits a folder, just use the old one. In kindergarten literally all they bringing back and forth is a folder and maybe a library book. |
| Silly question, how do you wash backpack! Laundry machine or hand wash? |
| I typically spray n wash the heavy soiled areas. Soak if necessary and then wash in cold water. Finally, hang it upside down with zippers open to dry. |
and lunch |
| Unless it was huge in preschool it’s probably to small. |
| Will it fit a lunchbox, books/notebooks and have space for something extra (like a show and tell item)? If so, I would just keep it. |
this. Full size folders or 3 ring binders (if your school has those- we had one teacher who sent home work in one) are the items that a very small backpack may have trouble fitting |
| What about their laptops? Don't the Kindergarteners bring them home? Or are they mostly left at school |
