I am guessing the answer is no, but does anybody know of a compact and foldable car seat for travel that works for a three-year-old? Some thing you can quickly use in an Uber or taxi cab, and stow under a stroller or wear as a backpack? We’re taking the train from DC to New York and prefer not to bring our gigantic car seat with us. We definitely will need a car seat since not all of what we’re doing will be accessible by walking or Subway.
I know my child is too small and young for those fold-up travel booster seats, but wondering if there’s an option I am not aware of. |
| Nope. Get the lightest seat you can. Like a cosco. |

I found two. There’s this one https://shop.saferide4kids.com/products/ridesafer-travel-vest?affiliate=216
And this one https://wayb.com/products/pico-car-seat?irclickid=X4p0LxXtwxyLTlXyX7X%3AOWMEUkByeY1do2mA3g0&irgwc=1 Found through this page https://travelcarseatmom.com/folding-car-seat-for-travel/ |
| Thanks. I’ll check out those options. I have seen the harness before, but I’m not sure about using it. We actually do have a Cosco Scenara we use for airline travel, but this is a in a typical situation where we won’t be bringing a car seat onto the train, we have to figure out a way of caring it around the city with us between uses one out and about. |

I think the WayB Pico is what you're looking for.
The ImmiGo used to be a good option, but they've discontinued it
|
| How much driving will you be doing? Personally I’d probably be okay with that harness thing myself for a short trip. |
This is OP. We will be in New York City for two weeks. We will be in taxis probably two or three times a day. We are family out in the boroughs and have a wedding and related events in locations far from where we are staying. |

We have the harness and it feels safe to me for a 3yo. And I am the crazy lady who just flipped my twins forward-facing a month before they turn 6.
|
| Wayb Pico. We have two for our 3 and 5yos. Get the carrying case. |

We used this, but honestly don't know if it's really safe enough.

| Immigo is perfect for this! |
| I have the wayb pico & it’s amazing! I can literally stick it in my carry on, it’s easy to buckle in, feels very solid & well made and my kid loves it. I had a cosco set for travel but it was still bulky to lug around and felt very cheap. I can’t recommend the wayb enough. My 3 yr old is huge and still has a lot of growth left in it. My older dd who is out of car seats can actually fit in it, so I think I’ll get a lot more use. |
| We've been using the Safe Rider harness for travel since my oldest was about 4, along with the same company's booster seat (the only booster that is approved to go with it) and it's been great. |
