AAP recommends universal masking in schools

Anonymous
Will all of you who cited to AAP as a reason to reopen schools now stop whining about masks?

Do they say when masks should NOT be required anymore? Or just indefinite masking, forever?

Why can vaccinated people go to bars and nightclubs unmasked but not schools??? It doesn't make sense.

Hallelujah.
Now we really need to get really serious about air exchanges and air quality monitoring in the classrooms, especially with all that money we were supposed to use for the systematic routine covid testing that never happened.

Glad to see it. Hope MCPS will require masks.

You should ask a medical professional that. They say masks need to be required. LISTEN TO THE EXPERTS!!

“Reasons for this recommendation include but are not limited to: a significant proportion of the student population is not yet eligible for vaccination; masking protects those who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 and reduces transmission; and potential difficulty in monitoring or enforcing mask policies for those who are not vaccinated.”

So, was there an end date or some kind of metric given? Because that's how you make policy.

Thank goodness. It’s time to follow the science and doctors.

Yup. It's all about logistics and enforcement, not strictly science.

So frustrating. This is not a medical/science based recommendation for the best interest of the patient.

I guess the end date is when they age out of K-12 education?

My students are in HS. Both fully vaccinated. They go to schools with high student and teacher vaccination. This is just ridiculous.

Im grateful as my kids are unvaccinated and Id like them to avoid this disease.

It’s so funny to me that now people think the Academy of Pediatrics is ridiculous and shouldn’t be listened to. When just 1 year ago they were the gold standard and no one was allowed to voice any different opinion.

What are the large number of DCPS teachers who still aren’t vaccinated? What do doctors think about anti-vaxxer teachers?

For once, I agree with them.

Now what do they say about school lunches, PE, choir and band?
