Does your kid's coach require him or her to run outside of training? If so, how many miles? How often? If you can share the team or gender, age, level, that would be great. This question was prompted by someone on another topic (the ACL one) implying that some coaches require 10 miles of running outside of practice. Thanks
2 mile jog 5 days out of 7, for players playing at a good level this should be pretty simple in the off season.
Never. U14 & U17 boys.
It's unnecessary. Even the professionals only do this kind of training during preseason. Once you are fit, training and games is enough to keep you fit.
Man U test.
When I played, whenever I ran consistently it helped me. No super long runs and vary speed a bit. Yes, strength trying to. Jump squats, side lunges. Hammy curls.
Training. Not trying.
What does that mean? Being serious |

DP. This person is correcting their typo in the previous post. |
Uhhhh yea, like if your DC isn't dual sport XCountry/Track with soccer do they even try? It's common knowledge that to make ECNL or one of the REAL academies you need to have your run game ON! The rest of you jokers are just feeding the system. Make it RAIN fools! $$$
The only time my kid's coach ever asked them to run outside of practice is if a practice was cancelled because fields were closed or something. Asked them to go for a run and do some ball work.
Yes. Summer training plan and fitness test in August.
If your kid isn't doing work outside of training, travel soccer is pointless, but thanks for feeding the machine, I guess.
My DC does four 10k races per quarter. Coach said a D1 offer is likely just around the corner due to all the hard work she's put in! She plays 90 minutes and doesn't skip a beat!
