What would I have to do to get my sister to put a restraining order on me when it comes to her kids?

What would be a bad enough thing for me to do to be legally forbidden from going near my sister or her kids, but not bad enough to get arrested?

She would have to be concerned about her physical well being or the physician well being of her kids. This is a bizarre question.

Anyone can apply for a temporary restraining order. It will last maybe 48 hours depending on the jurisdiction. In order to make the TRO permanent you then have to go before a judge and provide evidence of actual threats or assault.

Ummm.... OP, why do you think your sister needs a restraining order?

Please get help.

Why would you be asking this?

OP wants an excuse to not have the kids near her. "Sorry you can't come over - you have to stay 50 yards away from me"

Because then I wouldn't be allowed to babysit her kids.

If you're serious, you're crazy because traces of a restraining order could be found by future employers and potential spouses.

If you're joking, it's not funny. Thousands of women die every year around the world because they try to get restraining orders to protect themselves from abusive husbands or boyfriends and the courts don't believe them.

Learn to say NO.

Honesty, however painful, is the only way. Offer other non-babysitting support but by continuing to spend time with them in a capacity that stretches you too far you are jeopardizing your future relationship with her and them.

Have you tried just saying no?

Good lord, OP. Grow a spine.

This is so disturbing. Learn to set boundaries appropriately and stick with them.

Just ask her for one

Why does your sister not want you around her kids?

This has to be a troll post.

Most restraining orders are TROs. Temporary and then you have to go before a judge to show evidence of a continuing threat to get it renewed. You would have to continuously threaten or endanger them.

Why not tell her you have a substance abuse problem if you need to fake a reason why you can’t care for her kids?
