Cracked heels-is this something a good salon pedicure can help take care of?

Anonymous
I’ve got terrible feet-cracked heels, calluses, etc.

Is this something I have to deal with at home by myself? Or are there salons that can take care of it or is that just bad form (I feel like my feet are so gross). Anytime I’ve ever had a fancy spa pedicure, they didn’t do anything except cut/paint nails and put some crappy scrub on my feet.

If I specifically get callus removal, will that take care of it?

I apologize in advance for these gross questions.

Buy baby feet brand skin improver for feet.

Op here. I’ve done baby foot. It didn’t take care of it.

A pedicure can help, but I'd suggest googling "foot cream for cracked heels" and using one of those products for a couple of weeks. Then go.

Op here. I’ve got some on the way but am on vacation and would love to go get a pedicure now. I’m embarrassed of my feet but unsure if a salon can really help

You have to deal with it yourself. Take a bath, let your feet soak in Epsom salt. Use a pumice stone and exfoliate well with a washcloth. Slather your feet with coconut oil after the bath and put on clean socks.

After you’ve done that, then get a pedicure.

They have special socks that you can wear at night. Slather your feet with Vaseline every night and put the heel socks on. You can use regular socks too and cut the toes off if you want. It will take a month or so and you’ll see a big improvement.

Hmmm, if you have thick cracked callouses that even a Baby Foot peel didn’t help that makes me suspect this could be a fungal/athlete’s foot problem. Either way, no, even the best pedicure isn’t going to help. Did the peel not even make a dent? You may need back to back treatments. But please see a doctor or podiatrist to rule out fungus before you get a pedicure.

Op here. Baby Foot helped maybe 10%?

I live in a warm climate and wear nothing but sandals year round, I guess I always assumed that’s why my feet are so bad. I didn’t realize it could be a fungus issue! As far as I know I’ve never had athletes foot or anything.

Op here. Kind of but in my case it’s just the heels and the cracks are deeper.

I would start by applying a 40% urea cream (find on Amazon) daily and wear socks after. That will help moisturize, exfoliate, and urea is an anti fungal in case that is an element going on there.

Buy an Amope Pedi. You can gently sand all that dry stuff away. Then apply cream.

Urea cream 40%
This is what my podiatrist recommended for my foot fungus . I bought the stuff the had branded with their office name and I found it later on Amazon for 1/3 of the price.
