I'd like to buy a car from someone in Virginia. I live in Maryland. I've only ever bought from dealerships before.
1) We sign a bill of sale 2) I give the person $$ 3) They give me the title signed over to me 4) I take the car and go to the Maryland DMV (I assume it's open again....) and apply for a new Title and plates/registration/inspection etc. Okay fine, but the Virginia DMV says they need to remove their plates at the time of sale. So how do I get the car home? I'm not getting on the beltway without license plates and it looks like li need the sale done to even apply for a 30 day temporary tags. How does this work? |
| When we sold our vehicle in Virginia to a MD resident they took plates off one of their other vehicles and put them on the car we sold just to get it back home. |
