My butt itches. Is it hemorrhoids? or worms? or yeast? I know its gross, but should I get it checked out? It comes and goes, but its been lasting for several days now. Thanks
Yes only on DCUM.... |
If it's just the anal area, it's probably hemorrhoids. Try some OTC cream. Postpartum, I found the witch hazel pads very soothing, too.
I suppose it could be any of the above. You'd probably need to note other symptoms to make a distinction. I'd say go see a doctor if this continues, but then, I would avoid that like the plague myself.
Thanks....still don't know what route to take for treatment. UGH! OP
Yes, you should get it checked out; call your general practitioner or any family doctor. Could be hemorrhoids and if it's staying irritated, it could be the start of a yeast infection which you won't be able to stop without a prescription for a topical ointment. I've been there and there's no point in delaying dealing with it -- much too unpleasant to let this last and there are treatments that can have you feeling better very quickly.
It could also be pin worms -- google. Not a huge deal.
does it get worse at night? that's when pinworms come out to lay their eggs. and do you have a dc old enough to talk? If so, you might want to ask if s/he is experiencing the same problem. pinworms spread through households fairly easily.
How bad is the itch? If it is just annoying (instead of unbearable) I'd suggest taking an oatmeal bath one night and see if that does the trick. My booty itches sometimes, especially during warmer weather - when I've been outside sweating. It's just skin irritation (depending on where the itch is of course). A good oatmeal bath does the trick. Or add a little baby powder. But this might make a yeast infection worse, so I wouldn't do this if you were already miserable.
OP here- do you just put oatmeal in the bathtub?
OP what do you mean by butt? your anus?
yep
