I am about to do my egg retrieval. We all know the nurses aren't as good as other places, but the doctors are great. I just read the previous post about the nurses not giving calendars or telling you when to trigger.
Any advice on how I can handle this? I am worried they are going to mess my retrieval up. Wishing you guys all the best too in your journey. |
| Also should I just contact my doctor directly if the nurses mess up? |
| Hi OP, don’t necessarily expect the worse from the nurses. Just make sure you have your doctor’s email address in case you don’t get the call / email by 4pm. |
| ^ worst. Also, there is an after hours emergency line - you’ll be able to leave a message with the operator and someone will call you back. |
| If you don't hear from them by 4, email them and cc the doctor. I found that to be very effective. They are not that terrible. Good luck. |

OP here. I remember the nurse calling but never leaving a message to tell me my results. I frantically tried calling back and she said my labs were normal. she provided no specific information. I told CFA to email me my results when I filled the initial forms. How can I prevent this the next time?
I’ll take your advice and reach out to my doctor to get my daily injection information and nag them for a calendar. |
| my nurse is beyond horrible but sacks responds to emails very quickly-- just bypass the nurses |
| If it makes you feel any better, I never even had my doctor's email address at SGF so at least you have that information to rely on. |
| I did a couple cycles at CFA. I had Dr. Abbasi not doctor Sacks. I can't say the nurses were fantastic, but I think you are anticipating the worse. Most of the time I got instructions. if I did not receive a calender, I asked for one. If you really do not hear from a nurse by 400, I would email the nurse and cc the doctor or call the front desk. You can always call the emergency line or the front desk. ask your dr about the plans during monitoring. You have to be on top of your doctors and nurses at every center. I've asked about instructions that seemed wrong at other centers as well. I don't think CFA is much worse than the other centers. |

OP here. Thank you so much, all. I am thinking the worst of the nurses because I heard the process can be hard. Trying to be positive too about the experience, but just setting realistic expectations and preparing.
I will contact my doctor in case I need anything. |
