ISO comfortable sofa bed

Anonymous
Can anyone recommend a sofa bed that is comfortable to sleep on? We are purchasing one for our guestroom instead of a bed so that we can use the room as play room most of the time, but we need a place for guests to sleep occasionally. Guests are generally our parents, so would like the sofabed to be as comfortable as possible. Any recommendations? Willing to pay a much as $2,000 if necessary (although less than that would be optimal, of course).

Check out La-Z-Boy. We got one that has the typical mattress to pull out, but then an air-mattress on top of that. It is exceptionally comfortable - it has a lot of support and because of the thick air-mattress, you don't feel metal rods in your back.

It comes with an electric pump that takes about 2 minutes to fill the whole bed. We bought it for parents as well, and they really like it (and they're not the type to be polite or suck it up if it were uncomfortable) It was expensive, though I don't remember the price.

The best one is the American Leather Comfort Sleeper. A very good bed.

Some of the modern sofabeds fold flat like a futon but are much more stylish. We've been eyeing one at Design Within Reach for a while. There's also a modern furniture store called Anora in Friendship Heights that has a good sofabed.

Ligne Roset, Bo Concept, and especially the stores (upper Georgetown) that carry German sofa beds - those are really good. Can't remember the name, but there's a store or two next to Theodore's on Wisconsin Ave.

Haven't seen a single American made sofa bed that actually has a comfortable bed.

Thanks for these suggestions -- I will look into these brands. Does anyone have a sofabed made by a company called AU? If so, do you like it?

Yes, I have an AU sofabed which is the best. Highly recommend. I did a ton of research on sofabeds before I bought it. All of our guests say it's terrific.

Has anyone tried a SleepNumber sofabed? Just curious if you avoid the bar in your back problem with them.
