| I'm a latina and almost 40 but I constantly get told by doctors they thought I was in my 20's when they first met me. I see constant posts on here about people over 40 who say they feel old and slow. I also notice some races look much older after having kids even when they are actually younger than me. Does having a baby actually age someone? |
|
Of course. You have to worry about and provide for a defenseless child you brought into the world.
If that responsibility doesn't age you, you probably aren't doing it right. |
| I have 3 kids and yes. Definitely yes. |
You do the same for pets though! You bring defenseless pets home and have to feed, train, exercise them, etc. |
I meant after the women had ONE baby they look aged. |
It’s the worrying. I don’t worry over the dog much. |
A pet is not a child. Raise a child and you will admit the difference. Promise. |
| OMG yes!!!! And I’d do it again and again and again. Because it also totally expands your ability to understand unconditional love. Such a worthwhile trade off. (I have 3 including preemie twins.) |
| God yeah, the sleep deprivation alone is aging. I had 2 under 2 last year and I think I aged 10 years through that and the pandemic. |
|
LOL yes. Of course. Less sleep, less time to take care of yourself, more stress, the physical toll of pregnancy and nursing.
But genetics matters too. I have oily skin and I look younger than people I know with dry skin, because I don't wrinkle as much. |
| People kindly say I look the same after one and I think they're right, but I'm in a constant mental fog. I think and move slower from the sleep deprivation. Maybe it gets better as the child grows older. I was never one to wear a lot of makeup or dress up so I don't feel like anything has changed on that front. |
| Yup. The second more than the first. Extra pounds. Still leas sleep so bags under eyes. Less time to fix hair etc. |
| Yes, of course. The sleeplessness of the baby years. Then the nonstop worrying of the teen years. And everything in between. |
| Not until one of them became mentally ill. At that point, I aged big time |
| No, OP. Having a baby won't age you at all because you're latina. Having babies and getting no sleep for years and repeat c sections only ages white women. |
