Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| hi, i have meatballs that I made and then froze. I am making tomato sauce for tonight. Do I add the meatballs frozen to the sauce and simmer for a while (they are cooked) or do I defrost them and add to hot sauce? Thanks! |
| Both methods would work but I would probably defrost. I freeze meatballs all the time for a convenient protein option for my son's scool lunches. I find that they always taste better and obviously cook quicker when defrosted. |

To 9:51: I never thought of putting meatballs in school lunches- how do you do it? Do you heat them in the morning and put them in a thermos? With sauce?
I am always in need of new lunch ideas! |
| Yes. I use a thermos. It's important to pour booiling water in and let sit for a minute or so to get the thermos hot first so the heat stays in longer. I just put spaghetti and meatballs in and it's a sure hit with my picky son. Sometimes I make mac and cheese in the morning and proceed the same way. Doesn't take long at all and it stays nice and hot. |
