FTM to wonderful, fairly good sleeping 10 month old. However, I feel like I have started to have significant sleep issues recently (after a slight sleep regression for DD). Any hints, tips, tricks for helping me fall - and stay - asleep? I'd rather not take any meds - any natural remedies you can recommend? As we say about DD, maybe it's just a phase? TIA!

This helps me:
Get into your sleeping position and make every thought in your head RRRREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYY DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWNNN OOOOOOOOOOOUUUUT, so you are thinking in a monologue that is super slow. |
I've been struggling with this too. One thing I'm trying is to NOT get on the internet right before bed, which was a long-standing habit. Apparently the "blue" light from monitors can help keep you awake.
things that have helped me are not having any "screen time" an hour before bed and having a wind down routine (herbal tea, quiet time) before hitting the hay. HTH!
This may sound silly, but for me, silently singing a lullaby to myself works wonders! I think it's because it's the same lullaby I've sung *thousands* of times to my children while trying to get them to sleep - usually when I've been really tired and just wanting to sleep - so the effect is to put me in a zoned out, tired, "okay, I just want to sleep now" kind of state. Clears my mind of all the other stuff that's floating around in there.
