My current set of dinnerware, although only a few years old, isn’t holding up well - chipping, knife marks on plates, etc. I want to replace it and am looking for something that will be durable (resistant to chipping, good glaze, etc) but not something like Corelle. Online reviews don’t always speak to long term durability so would like recommendations. I like simple, round, and prefer things that stack well.
To give an idea of my taste, I saw this set at West Elm that looks pretty to me but I’m not sure about durability. https://www.westelm.com/products/textured-dinnerware-set-mix-match-e1037/?clickid=wQIz-WVxTxyLWiAxU-SAVSQkUkB3BtSBRwu%3ARo0&irgwc=1&cm_cat=10078&cm_ven=afshoppromo&bnrid=3917500&cm_ite=thespruceeats.com&irpid=10078 Anyone have any family-friendly dinnerware that they would recommend that looks good enough for holiday dinners? |
| Clicked on this thread to suggest Corelle, so I’ll just see myself out… |
| Williams Sonoma has held up for me for over a decade. |
Do you know which line you have? Looks like they have Pillivuyt, Apilco, Williams Sonoma open kitchen and Williams Sonoma pantry. |
Thanks anyway! I grew up with Corelle but something about it just bugs me. |
| There have been a lot of threads on this in the past, so I suggest searching for them. People tend to suggest Fiestaware and Crate and Barrel Aspen the most. |

We have had this set for years and love it. Very durable.

| Denby. I got a set for our wedding 14 years ago and it has held up very well. |
They’ve carried Apilco and Pillivuyt for decades. If you like the look, I’d go with one of those lines. |
+1. I've had Denby for 25+ years and it's indestructible, and I love the look and feel, too. There's a lot of discontinued Denby on Ebay, so when I find a pattern I like I keep adding to it as it becomes available. |
I have some Apilco serving pieces and they're very sturdy. They stay perfectly white for ages. |
| I’m an English fine bone China dish snob, but I admit that nothing is as durable as Corelle! |
| Noritake? |
I have a set of their “lunch plates” which I love for the kids. It’s a great supplement for our regular dishes. I’m not into Corelle for our dinner table, but these are perfect for snacks or something small. |
We had nice dinnerware, but at some point during a meal when my kids were 2 and 5 I turned to DH and said “OMG we are going to have to get Corelli.” We packed up the nice stuff and got the Corelle. Hate it in some ways, but it lets the kids set the table, clear the table and load the dishwasher without us freaking out if a dish gets broken. |
