We are doomed

Listen limousine liberals, this healthcare bill is going to affect the most productive in society and and send wealth down to the laziest members of our society. As someone who lives in the District and sees these people daily with their 6 kids etc I'm just so mad! It's unfair that I have to work 10hr days to provide a certain lifestyle and then see so much of it taken away and given to people who hate America, hate education, embrace violence and refuse to work. Take the metro sometime it's appalling the way these youths speak, and you can tell their just going to join the government rolls. There, getting off soapbox.

My father has worked 12 hour days, 6 days a week for the past 30 years of his life. He owns his own small business. He was dumped from his insurance policy after he had a heart attack, and has been unable to get insurance for less than $3K per month from any insurance company. He earns about $50K a year before taxes.

Explain to me how this makes him lazy. Explain to me how this means he hates America, education, embraces violence, and refuses to work.

He knows more about a hard days work than you ever will in your pathetic life.

I know it's human nature to fear change, but OMG conservatives are really terrified of this one. Have some faith that the American people are strong and both individuals and businesses can adapt to the new landscape.

I have a feeling that the OP is a troll. Too many buzzwords.

I wonder who she referring to when she says "these people . . . ."?

Laughable attempt to bait this forum. Totally unsuccessful.

No, we aren't.

Coming from a country where the health care system is medically more sound, more socially inclusive and cheaper, the present production does not cut it - but it is a step in the right direction, and is definitely better than nothing.

You're a moblile millionaire right? Why not just move to Canada?

PP here, and sorry, meant mobile. PS-all of us who couldn't afford health care before this plan certainly don't feel 'doomed'. The have nots have gotten a little bit of what the haves have and the haves are insulted-shocking! Before you call me disingenous, really tell me you are worried about a deficit that won't affect you until after you're dead. You're worried about your grandchildren? Phuuuuleeease. Why weren't you worried about them when the government funded the Iraq war over WMD? Because that was a cause you believed in? Let's face facts here-you aren't worried about your grandchildren, you're worried about your money. Just be upfront about it and realize the being patriotic involves more people then you and yours.

Op here. I'm not a troll. Why is it that whenever someone expresses a different opinion they're considered a troll or afraid of change etc. It's only fair to say that this bill is tik expensive and that it's benefits are being exaggerated by the proponents. But voicing those concerns makes you a troll or a baiter.

The fact that you believe its too expensive or that the benefits are exaggerated are not the concerns you voiced in your original post. At least that's not what I read...

Well I have worked 28 years of my life, made a good salary for the past 20 years..have a MA degree and close to finishing a PhD. Still my insurance is $1500.00 per month for a family of three. This is too much money. Wanting a better rate doesn't imply that I am lazy. I simply want to have less expensive health care.

There was this much anger and fear over civil rights laws, too. Blacks and whites going to school together?? Oh the horror! The horror!!

Now we look back and can't even imagine why people could have possibly supported segregation.

The same will be true for health care reform. Health care is a human right. A human right. Repeat it, believe it, own it.

Now that it's here, I can't wait to see how it improves the system. I sure hope it somehow fixes the problem I just identified in a bill I got from Labcorp - $1300 for bloodwork that insurance wouldn't cover until I filled out a secondary insurance/medicare questionnaire (4 times it took for BCBS to actually start paying up). Did I mention these were HSG and other fertility bloodwork? BCBS had all the info it needed to know I didn't have secondary insurance or medicare.

Anyway, when insurance wasn't covering me, Labcorp billed me $1300. When BCBS stepped in, the charge dropped to $130.00 (yes, 10cents on the dollar), and I had only to pay $23. How is someone not on insurance supposed to pay for that?

Let's say Labcorp was out of plan for me. Then I'd have to pay the $1300, then submit it to BCBS. BCBS would then pay the $107 (130-23) and I'd be on the hook for the remaining $1193. My calendar year deductible would only reflect the $107. What a rip off.

Will the new law help this one? It seems so broken.
