Costco Car program

Anonymous
I understand its not the correct time to buy the car now, but there is a need.
We are looking for a new car mostly Honda CRV touring.
Is the Costco program good? Where can I find the actual cost of the car, so I can negotiate with the dealers.
Any one recently bought Honda CRV , please advice.

Search. It's been discussed recently

You need to go through the Costco website and put in your information and the dealer will contact you and give you the Costco price sheet.

a lot of dealers have opted out of Costco program due to inventory shortage. so try but also call/text around.

We used it three years ago and got a great deal that way.

I just looked. I think they only have Volvo and Toyota? Maybe it’s location dependent

I tried to buy a VW through the program two years ago. The prices were the same as the internet prices online plus the dealers ended up hounding me. It was awful.

My family has bought three cars via Costco in three states with great results, but the most recent was 5 years ago. Unbeatable price at that time.

Yes Costco has a big warning label on the Costco auto buying program website that says something along the lines of "The chip shortage has messed up inventory levels, so you should probably just call us (Costco) to get some help rather than trying to go through the full process via this website."

OP I would call CostCo to ask more about what the specific availability and pricing is like in your local area right now.

The value of the program depends on the current state of the auto industry. I had a great experience 4 years ago on a new purchase and got a 700 costco card. At that time I got GM employee pricing and the process was seamless.

I looked into the process again a few weeks ago and it doesn't appear to be as valuable as it was years ago. The price is typically agreed upon before you visit the dealership and Costco reviews the transaction for suspicious fees or contractual violations by the dealer.

For the specific vehicle I was looking at a few weeks ago, the closest dealer was in Baltimore. Last time I used the program, there were multiple dealers in the DC area that were part of the costco program.

It was a waste of time for us. The dealerships refused to give information over the phone or email. They made us come in and it turned out the Costco info was the same as their Internet price.
