I just noticed these on some new shoots of my boxwoods. They look like little pieces of cotton. I'm confused by looking online and trying to identify them. Does anyone know?
Sounds like mealybugs.
I’ve had these before - they are very strange looking! I can’t remember the name.
They're weird little bugs called Scale. Don't worry about them unless the plant starts to decline.
I have these too! I think they’re mealybugs. I’ve sprayed them with vinegar. I also cut back parts of the plant if it looks like those parts are not doing well. Whatever you do, don’t bring the affected plant indoors, you don’t want mealybugs on your indoor plants. BTDT.
sounds like wooly aphids.

https://plantcaretoday.com/woolly-aphids.html soaps and oils work well for control. |
Scale
sounds like mealybugs. they're really difficult to manage but i eviscerated an infection on a houseplant last summer after much work. sprayed with a rubbing alcohol and insect soap solution daily. it did not damage my plant but the rubbing alcohol does kill succulents and probably will hurt other plants as well.
