What does this mean??

My husband and I have been ttc for 8 months.. I turn 35 next month so now I'm getting nervous. A week ago, I felt pregnant.. swollen breasts, extreme fatigue, etc. My husband told me I looked pregnant, somehow only a week after we had tried. this may sound crazy but I've been pregnant before and definitely remembered the beginning stage. However, a few days ago my breasts seem to go back to normal and I don't feel pregnant anymore. I'm 2 days late and have a neg pregnancy test this morning. Did I conceive and lose it so quickly? Should I see a Dr? Really bummed because we're hoping for a second child and its taking soo long. IF I was pregnant and lost it, do I need to wait to try again? Any help is much appreciated.

you probably had what is called a chemical pregnancy..sorry

Yes, I agree, sounds like a chemical (meaning the embryo started to implant but then never took off). There is nothing you need to do and you can try again right away - I've read that a number of people get pregnant two cycles after their chemicals, although that didn't happen with me.

Thanks for your responses.. any ideas what would cause this? I think it's happened a couple times..

You might have had a chemical pregnancy. There's really no way to know since you never had a positive pregnancy test. But if your period was only 2 days late, even if you were pregnant, your beta levels are probably down to zero again and you can go ahead and try again, no need to wait.

Chemical pregnancies are very common. It's just bad luck, really. An abnormal egg, abnormal sperm, or something goes wrong in the first couple days of development after fertilization. It is also age-related, as that's correlated with declining egg quality. I had 3 successful pregnancies in my early to mid-thirties, conceived right away and never lost a pregnancy, and now at 39 I've had 2 chemical pregnancies in the past 6 months & am on cycle # 14 of TTC. My RE says it's egg quality in my case. BUT, that's not to say you have egg quality issues. Chemical pregnancies are not uncommon in younger women either.

However, since you're 35 and have been TTC > 6 mo, you may want to think about seeing an RE, just to have some preliminary testing done.

OP I had the same thing happen with the symptoms (appeared and disappeared) and ended up pregnant. MY pregnancy test was kinda blurry, and i waited a couple of days and took it again and it was positive. At this point, you pretty much have to wait and see in the next few days.
