| Does anyone know about the Georgetown University boys soccer summer camp? |
I guess we do now. |
| How much does it cost? |
| yes, if you go you are guaranteed a full academic scholarship and a starting spot on the team. |
| It's only happening for high school aged players this summer... |
| Is that the going rate everywhere? $500 for 3 9-12 sessions? |
That wins the prize as the priciest ID camp I have ever seen. |
I read this as a residential camp. Looks like two nights and meals are included. Not sure where you got 9-12 sessions. It doesn’t discuss the schedule. |
| Our son did it a few years ago. He enjoyed it. He had a couple of friends who got recruited for NESCAC teams from there. |

Men's soccer:
"This camp is designed to attract top-level, serious players interested in playing Division I soccer. The camp will feature the Georgetown Soccer coaching staff who have experience in every level of college soccer. Our coaches will provide exceptional training to help prepare our campers for college soccer." |
The second session "gray" is the one I clicked on specifically mentions that it's not residential. The schedule is on one of the links on the page. 9-12 and come back in afternoon/night for 1 - 1 hour game. |
We’ve seen other, similar ones for high-level camps. My son did this UVA one a few years ago: https://www.virginiasoccer.com/camp-information.html Both the Georgetown and UVA camps were excellent in our experience. Both had college coaches who were seriously evaluating the players. I will say that the boys we know who are currently playing at Georgetown and UVA were all well-known to the coaches from other venues (DA games and showcases, major tournaments). We had some friends whose kids attended these camps who found it helpful because they realized, or it confirmed their sense, that their sons were not cut out to play at a tippy-top soccer program like Georgetown or UVA. |
Interesting. My DS is under no illusions about playing at that college level but wants to do some serious training for a few days. Would this be a confidence buster in your opinion or worth it? |
I think it's a very fun experience for kids who love soccer, and would recommend it if money is not an issue. The camps are too short to provide sustained excellent training, obviously, but they are a fun challenge. It looked like the Gtown one may be at the Soccerplex this year? I love the Soccerplex, but part of the fun of these things is exploring campuses. |
