I feel certain I had implantation bleeding yesterday - it happened at about 13 DPO, which is about 5-7 days before my next cycle should start. I never bleed in between cycles like this, but the timing, color, amount, and the fact that it completely stopped all point to IB, not the start of my period. I also feel certain I had pregnancy symptoms for a few days beforehand (tender breasts and I just felt different), but today I woke up and the symptoms were completely gone and I don't feel pregnant at all. I took a HPT this AM and it was negative (it was 14 DPO I think and 6 days before my cycle should start). I've had a few chemical pregnancies and the vanishing symptoms today feels like what happened in those situations, but I hadn't had implantation bleeding before. Also with my chemicals I get a + HPT, but then my HCG doesn't rise.
Has anyone had implantation bleeding but then had a negative HPT? Our bodies are so hard to understand sometimes. |
| I had what my doctor thought may have been implantation bleeding but it was after a positive pregnancy test. Wishing you good luck, though if it doesn’t work out I’d see a doctor and get your cycles checked. 21+ day luteal phase isn’t normal and may be symptomatic of PCOS or another hormonal imbalance. |
Are you sure about your ovulation date? If you are 13 dpo and still have 5-7 days until your period that would make your luteal phase 18-20 days. That would be unusually long. The range that is considered normal is 11-17 days. It would make more sense if you were 7-9 dpo, then the bleeding could be implantation bleeding and it could just be too early to test, explaining the negative HPT result. Another thing to consider is that it takes time for the HCG to become detectible in your urine. Your body starts producing HCG soon after implantation but it takes a while for it to build up to a high enough level to be detectible in a urine HPT. So if you had implantation bleeding yesterday and tested this morning that might not be enough time. What HPT are you using? FRER is the most sensitive (measures down to 6 mU/ml). Lots of other HPTs only detect at 25 mU/ml. |
| Very likely an early period. Let us know how it works out! |
| I've never seen any academic evidence that implantation bleeding is real. It's all anecdotal. |
| NP on this topic - I am fairly sure I had implantation bleeding about 4-6 days after a 5-day transfer. It was only a small amount and brownish in color and stopped completely - not at all like a period. Has anyone ever had implantation bleeding but then NOT been pregnant? I swear I felt pregnent for a couple days (sore boobs and bloating), but now I feel nothing. |
| I’m sorry OP, fingers crossed for you but it’s more likely your period. |
Thanks for the crossed fingers! I'm on estrogen and progesterone, so isn't it more likely to be implantation bleeding? My period is always red and this was brown. |
| Is this a medicated cycle? |
When Ibhad implantation bleeding (which I mistook for a period) it was bright red. Given you are on hormones, that could affect your period. I'm sorry but by the time you have implantation bleeding you should be testing positive. Try again first thing in the morning (most concentrated). I understand you're reaching for signs but don't do this to yourself, you'll make yourself crazy. |
| I experienced a spot - looked like a pencil eraser but smaller - the day after implantation cramps. Those happened a day after a 5-day transfer. I tested 10 days later and got a positive. I think you tested too early. |
