Baltimore area private schools

Anonymous
We are moving to Baltimore soon and know nothing about private schools there. I will start looking next fall during open house season but can anyone give me any recommendations for pre-k or k? My son would benefit from a small class size and a school with acceleration for gifted students. Someone told me good things about Friends School in Baltimore? Any info about it or other schools would be appreciated. TIA!

We are friends with the head at Friends in Baltimore (he is a triplet and his brother is one of my husband's best friends from grad school.) My husband and I think he and his wife are terrific. They are warm, friendly and all around super people. Haven't been on campus but from what I hear, it's a great school. Would definitely look at it if we lived in Baltimore.

Matt (the head) was the head of the middle school at Wilmington Friends before going to Baltimore Friends. My husband's aunt was on the board there and they just loved him and were sad to see him go.

I hope this helps!!

Some other wonderful private schools in the Baltimore area if you're looking for schools that are K-12....

Gilman: I believe they are starting a K program next year (all boys)

Park School of Baltimore (co-ed)

McDonogh School

OP here. Thanks for the info. I looked into Park and it looks like they don't offer financial aid starting in pre-k and k so that is definitely off the list. Ditto for Boys Latin. I will check out McDonogh. And I hadn't heard about the k at Gilman so I will look into that too. I am hoping these schools don't require the intelligence tests that some in DC require. It seems absurd to subject a 3 year old to that.

Try the Key School in Annapolis. They do their own testing on site. I think it is similiar to a school readiness test.
